Arcus Project, Moriya-city, Ibaraki
After the East Japan great earthquake disaster and the nuclear plant accident in 2011, Moriya-shi has been polluted by a radiation. I was invited for Moriya-shi’s community project by ARCUS project, then staying at empty classroom for my studio in the Goshiyuu elementary school for three weeks. I planned the project that thought about the social function of the smile of children.I took photos smile of 369 whole school children and carved their smile faces to 29 school desks. If an audience do frottage it with a pencil, they can copy the smile faces of children. I finally made an installation with these desks in a classroom, at ARCUS Studio later and a ceremony of the 30th anniversary of the elementary school on November, 2012 too.

アーティスト・イン・スクール2012/アーカス・プロジェクト
守谷市立郷州小学校、茨城県守谷市
守谷市立郷州小学校に約3週間滞在しながら進めたプロジェクトである。
2011年の東日本大震災後の原発事故で守谷市は放射線のホットスポットして地域の
課題を背負うことになった。
そこで、改めて子どもたちの笑顔の社会的な役割を考えたプロジェクトを企画した。
全校児童369人の笑顔を撮影し、29脚の学習机に彼らの笑顔を彫り込んだ。
それを鉛筆で擦りフロッタージュすれば子どもたちの笑顔を写し取ることができる。
滞在最終日には、完成した「笑う机」を学校内にインスタレーションし公開した。
後日、アーカス・スタジオでも展示を行った。
平成24年11月の郷州小学校30周年式典にも展示した。
